To mark the historical addition of the Women’s America’s Cup competition to the lineup, Naming Sponsor Puig commissioned a Sterling trophy which was unveiled May 21, 2024 by ACE. The 58 cm (22.83-inch) tall, 5 kg (176.3 oz) trophy was designed by Patricia Urquiola and presents as a simple mirror-polished cylinder which opens up “like a large sail struck by the wind”. The upper section is repousse (from the inside) to form the undulations, then those are chased on the exterior to add texture to the handleless cup. The interior is painted in a rose gold gloss. The front of the Cup is engraved “PUIG WOMEN’S AMERICA’S CUP BARCELONA.” As the Cup bears the city name “Barcelona” it is likely a “keeper cup” rather than “permanent cup” similar to the Garrard 1848 Ewer known as America’s Cup. There is adequate space on the obverse side to memorialize the winners. It is unknown whether the bottom bears any manufacturer’s hallmarks or identification (research continues). The Puig Women’s America’s Cup will be awarded on October 13, 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. **
